Reading

Reading

Children are encouraged to read every night with an adult or older sibling. We also encourage families to read to their children to develop the children’s vocabulary, understanding and enjoyment of a text.

Children with phonics books need to read their books 3 times - once for decoding words, once for fluency and one for understanding.

Children need to put their reading book and reading record in theclass tray when they have read them.

The Pilgrim reading challenge is a fun way to encourage children to read at home regularly. Every child in KS2has a book card in the back of their reading record. Once children have completed the number of “reads” they will receive a coloured wristband in our celebration assembly!
