Autumn Term 1

English​

Our key text this term is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We will be working to expand our vocabulary and continuing to build our confidence with grammar. We will use the story of Harry Potter to develop our understanding and appropriate use of ‘subordinating conjunctions’. We will also focus on how to write a persuasive advert and ghost story. We will plan, write, edit and publish our writing.

Mathematics​

This term we will be focusing on place value. We will be incorporating physical activities to support our understanding of new concepts as well as following the concrete, abstract and written approach answering a range of questions. The children will be using the skills of rounding, comparing and ordering numbers within one million. We will also be learning Roman Numerals to one thousand. We will continue to work on our times table badges and gold certificates.
